What Is Turner Syndrome?

Turner Syndrome (TS) is a chromosomal condition that describes girls and women with common features that are caused by a or partial absence of the second sex chromosome. The syndrome is named after Dr. Henry Turner, who was among the first to describe its features in the 1930's. TS occurs in approximately 1 of 2,500 females born and in as many as 10% of all miscarriages.

Turner Syndrome may be diagnosed throughout the life span including adulthood, if signs are subtle.

Nursing Continuing Education Program
Turner Syndrome Society has set up an online program to offer physicians and nurses one continuing education credit in an effort to educate medical personnel for earlier diagnosis of Turner Syndrome. The NC Chapter would like to take this program to school nurses in NC. We hope to target large school districts and offer a luncheon to school nurses. At the same time we will present the continuing education program and offer a Q&A afterwards. If you are interested in presenting this in your area please contact Denise at denise.culin@gmail.com.
